SRAM shift lever snapped off

I can't speak to the breaking issue but if your SRAM does not shift
well, there is likley a problem other than the shifter.

Yesterday during a cross ride in Forest Park the right hand shift lever of my Rival shifter snapped off where it connects to the main body. A perfect break. I wad just shifting and snap.

I did some research online and learned that many others have had this problem. It looks like 2009 Rival and Force are particularly prone to this problem. Since my bike is 6 weeks old I'm assuming I have 2010 Rival. I have always thought my Rival shifted like crap.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is the 2010 groups better (maybe my group was actually a 2009). Does Red have the same issue?

Seriously considering going with Shimano Ultegra 6700.
