There are other races beside the Crusade Series. Check out the calendar on the OBRA site. Two coming up on Saturday's in the Salem area and another Psychocross race just north of Eugene in Coburg. Next year check out some of the other races and the more you race, the more you can enjoy the Crusade. Big fields have their good and bad points. I do not have a problem with them because I view it as continuing Ed. You can always learn something from other riders....if nothing else by passing them or being passed. I think being intimidated at first is pretty normal. You just have to get in there and mix it up. Hardly ever do you come across anyone who is obnoxious. When I started I was intimidated, but knew it was fun and I was not going to let "others" ruin my fun. Thus I have as much fun in a crowded field as a sparse one.
Don't stop crossin'

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Thank You For the Blind Date!
I just wanted to take a minute and say a proper thank you for making the Blind Date happen. I am brand new to cycle racing and cyclocross. I was intimidated by the Crusade, but the smaller event was just right to get my feet wet--or at least dusty. I attended every race and even finished every one! I know how hard you all worked to make it happen and it really is appreciated.
Last night cutting through the field during my last lap, just a few cyclists around me, with the lights and the dark... Well, it was just really cool.
The problem, of course, is what do do with the rest of my year. Wednesday nights are going to be pretty dull from here on out.
Thanks again,
Beg. Woman, Katie Gentry
