I guess you all are relativly new to cross. There was more than one
venue with stream crossings in the 80's.

John. Today is your day...same for all the more mature riders out there. This looked like a total blast! About as organic as you could get from my perspective. I do remember the pre-ride at Flying M. He**! I am a mountain biker, so I did not even think twice about hanging a right and ripping into the creek. Got almost all the way across before losing traction. When stopped, standing in water and getting ready to shoulder the bike and move forward...I heard this surge of laughter and clapping from the camping area across the creek. Then some pity was thrown my way...."Hey dude. We changed the course just to see if people would...". I just thought no biggie, got my feet wet a little earlier than expected, but no harm. Turned around and went and finished my lap smiling as it was pretty funny even at the time. That video was great to share with the site Mike. Thanks so much. Mr. Truesdale! I had no idea you were such a trickster. Concerning the three peaks race. I think there is a two page shot of part of this huge (you could call it a run up I guess) line of riders shouldering their bikes up one of the mountains a few pages into the new copy of Velonews. Looks more brutal than the video.
race on.

Yeah, that's called cross country, just grab your mountain bike and wait until spring. You'll find there are lots of them on the OBRA calender.

Perhaps they could have an option for stream crossings with a ramp. For the brave and lucky, you jump the river Dukes Of Hazard Style and every one else has to ford.

On a more serious note, it would be cool to have at least one race with out laps. One continuous cross-country course stretched out over 5 miles. No chance to really dial in a course. Rather, the rider has to adapt as the obstacles come. This would be harder for the spectator, but a lot more fun for the rider.

Cheers

Don't get me wrong, I'm ok with crossing streams. But make sure they're not too deep cuz that just favors the tall guys, like Trebon and Wicks, who don't need any help. Of course, I don't ride in their category so it wouldn't really matter that much.

OBRA 'crossers have no problem with fording streams. When the Halloween race was at the Flying M, Steve Truesdale rerouted the course through the 2-foot-deep river for the preride, and you idiots just happily rode through it. The only complaint I heard was that the water was cold -- no one questioned having it on the route. I think some of them were actually disappointed to learn that wouldn't be part of the race.

OBRA 'crossers have no problem with fording streams. When the Halloween race
was at the Flying M, Steve Truesdale rerouted the course through the
2-foot-deep river for the preride, and you idiots just happily rode through
it. The only complaint I heard was that the water was cold -- no one
questioned having it on the route. I think some of them were actually
disappointed to learn that wouldn't be part of the race.
