Wow! What a big day at Portland International Raceway. We had 96 Juniors out
there braving those nasty conditions. That is a Record Folks for the most
Juniors EVER at a one day event in OBRA history. Well done! I want to extend
a personal thanks to Brad Ross, the Cross Crusade crew, and all the
officials for hosting/supporting the series at PIR. I am already looking
forward to Hillsboro!

The Junior series has been a big success so far. After 5 of the 7 Junior
Series races we are averaging 59 Juniors per race. Way up over the 27
Juniors per race we averaged last year. After 3 of the 5 High School Series
races we are averaging 76 racers per event. I guess the High School addition
has made a difference huh! Go High School Cyclocross!
Two more big races to go. The 11/7 Hillsboro Cross Crusade, and the 11/20
Double Points OBRA Championships! Those double points will keep things
exciting until the very end.
After 3 rounds Corvallis United is holding onto it's High School Team lead
with Summit and Hood River Valley in second and third. Still within striking
distance. Championship Jerseys and bragging rights are on the line.
Taylor Tyynismaa preserved her perfect record with another win at PIR and
holds the women's individual lead. New to Cyclocross Kara Doescher has a
firm grip on second with Dana Martel holding down third.
The Men's High School competition could have a surprise finish. Colin Dunlap
has been super consistent and currently holds first. Trevor Schauer has a
slim lead over Cary Adams for Second and Third, but Andrew Bennett, down a
race, is right behind in fourth. This could really shake up with the best 4
out of 5, and double points. Now is not the time to miss any races or have a
bad day!
In the Junior Series there were no overall series leader changes after PIR.
Cary Adams M 17-18
Colin Dunlap M 15-16
Sam Rosenberg M 13-14
Grayson Szczukowski M 11-12
Taylor Tyynismaa W 17-18
Dana Martel W 15-16
Mikeala Saltzberg W 13-14
Haley Wilson W 11-12
All held onto their series lead.
Look out for Timothy Jaynes who has won the last two rounds in the M 17-18,
and Jordy Wilson with seconds in the last two rounds M 17-18. The throw out
races / double points could shake it up at the very end!
Great racing everyone.
