Hi there,

For those of you who didn't receive the email I sent out earlier today, here are some updates about the ever-popular Kruger's Crossing Cyclocross Classic, which is coming up in less than two weeks!

Like in years past, this won't be your usual cross race! Besides the challenges thrown at us by the November weather gods, you can expect a wild course that will lead you through berry & pumpkin fields, a barn, along rutted farm roads, a bonfire and a beer garden! And if the weather in the next weeks doesn't wreak too much havoc, we might even throw in an "optional short-cut" through the much-heralded corn maze.

In good tradition, we'll be serving free gourmet coffee, courtesy of our sponsor Nossa Familia, hot food, catered by Kruger's Farm Market, and ample quantities of organic beer, brought to you by Hopworks Urban Brewing. There will be free kiddie races for the young ones - sponsored by Fun Reflector - and throughout the day we will be raffling off a bunch of cool prizes, courtesy of our sponsors Bike Gallery, Chris King and Showers Pass.

Per popular demand, we will also bring back the Doggie Dash CX World Championship (DDCXWC10), a free and fun cross race - sans bikes - for our four-legged friends. We'll have a bunch of prizes and treats provided by our dog race sponsors Cycle Dog and Meat for the top finishers in each category and for the most original dog attire. Lycra dog team kits are strongly encouraged!

A couple other updates:

1) Race schedule:
We will be following the same race schedule as the Cross Crusade series, which is posted at http://www.portlandracing.com/cx/

2) Bib Numbers - Hold on to your Cross Crusade numbers!
We will use the Cross Crusade bib numbers, so please bring them with you. If you haven't raced cross yet this season or if you plan to race a new category, you will need to pick up a new bib number at the registration tent. As usual, bib numbers go on the left side.

3) Pre-Registration:
To save time and reduce waiting lines on race day, we encourage you to pre-register online at:
http://www.portlandracing.com/cx/online-registration.html
The pre-registration deadline is Sunday 11/14.

All racers must fill out a waiver. Even if you prefer to pay at the race, you can save some time and paper by filling out the online waiver.

4) Volunteer and race for free!
We are still looking for a couple volunteers to help with set-up, parking, registration, course marshaling, and tear-down. If you are interested in helping out and get a free race entry while you're at it, just shoot me an email.

5) Race Course:
The course will be very similar to last year's, though we plan to add a couple new sections and relocated the start closer to the finish and registration. (see updated course map at http://tinyurl.com/5nhtc5).

As we get closer to the event, I will probably provide another update about the course conditions, but for now mark already Sunday Nov 21 on your calendar for a fun day at the farm. And spread the word with your racing and non-racing friends alike. Kruger's Farm is a very spectator-friendly venue and close home for many in the Portland area!

Cheers!
~Kris
