Donations for HS team

I want to once again thank all of the OBRA members who generously donated to help our team get new bikes. We had over $1300 donated from OBRA members (I am including 2 local racers that are also Umpqua velo members) We picked them up on Wednesday and they will be using them tomorrow at the OBRA championships! If you were one of those who helped us, please come by the start line before the Jr. race so we can thank you personally.

WOW !!! I want to thank all of the OBRA members that donated to help with our HS team (We have received over $600 from members so far) If there was any doubt to which state has the best bike racing association, this puts that question to bed. Dave
I am the coach of the Roseburg HS CX racing team and we have had a blast his year participating in the Jr. and HS CX series. We now have ten kids who are racing, but it has been a struggle to get enough bikes for all of them to race.
Some of you have seen the old Mtn. Bikes that we have scrapped together and at present only three of the bikes are actually owned by the team, the rest are borrowed until we come up with some more. Almost all of our racers have come out of the HS Step-up program for at-risk students
and can’t afford to purchase their own bikes. (in a few cases we have had to buy lunches for kids after the races)
So our local bike shop (Canyon Creek Cycles) has worked out a deal with Redline to get 5 new conquest sport cyclocross bikes at cost ($465 each) The local cycling club Umpqua Velo is donating a matching gift of $1400 towards the purchase of the new bikes, but we have to raise the another $1400 to receive those funds. So I am reaching out to fellow racers out there for help to raise this money. Any amount that you can give will in a sense be doubled by the matching gift, so nothing is to little.
You can click on the link below and donate funds through paypal.

Many people have asked me to set up a paypal account for donations to the kids and I have done so. Here is the link.
Thank you to those that have already sent something.

OK Fellow racers. This is the real deal. These are the people who want to
race, but do not have the financial backing from family....but they do have
the OBRA friends. I am putting a check in the mail. I bet I will not even
miss what I would have spent the $ on and the new racer getting a bike will
be..... well we all know how neat and fun a new bike is and how it
motivates. In situations like this...every dollar is important. We have
this chance to make a positive difference in someone's life.
I hope they get MORE than they need!
