OK, the series results should be posted sometime soon at this location:
http://www.obra.org/junior_cyclocross_series/results.html
The Crusade results are up, but the Junior & High School results will be
added in as links underneath the Crusade results.
Next Saturday is the final race in the series. It is also the state
championships. Jeff McNamee and crew know how to put on a great race so make
sure to get out there: http://www.buylocalcycling.com/OBRAChampionships2010/
Eight Junior age/gender categories are on the line plus the top high school
team, top three high school women, and top three high school men. The High
School Series Team race is particularly exciting with Corvallis United
holding out a small lead over the powerhouse Team Summit from Bend. This is
surly going to be a fight to the finish.
We have a ton of awards set for Saturday (see video link below). We also
have the following grand prizes:
24" Conquest Bike from Redline
52 cm Conquest frame/fork from Redline
VCX wheelset from Rolf Prima
You pick the size Kona Jake Bike from Sellwood Cycle Repair
Northwest Multisports is paying for Shane Young of Oregon Velo to take
pictures of the junior race, and award podiums (if Shane can get is car
working).
You must have entered at least 5 races in the series to qualify for series
awards. Grand prize awards will be administered by the following process;
1. Everyone who entered at least 5 races and is present November 20th
will be given lottery tickets based on the number of events they
participated in plus 15 more for first, 14 for second, 13 for third and so
on.
2. We will draw eight finalists using the lottery tickets. One from
each junior age/gender category.
3. The smallest junior of the eight automatically wins the 24"
Conquest bike.
4. The remaining 7 will each get one lottery ticket for the hat for
the final three grand prizes.
Bring your folding chairs, something to eat and drink. An umbrella or
portable tent. We will have a covered area (in-between the base ball fields)
for the awards but best to be prepared in case we have a big group. Awards
is scheduled to start at approximately 2:30 pm.
Last week we had 104 Juniors. This may be the largest junior participation
at a Cyclocross race in the country this year! Way to go Oregon Juniors. The
series has been a great success this year more than doubling participation
numbers over last year. It may be the largest junior Cyclocross series in
the country this year (by participation). Please be sure to thank all the
OBRA officials, race promoters, your parents, and generous sponsors that
made this all possible.
See you on Saturday
