internally routed cables on cross bikes?

The 2010 Ridley X-Night has internally routed cables.

I've been riding this all season and like not grabbing cabling when shouldering or picking up the bike.

Not sure if all Speedvagens are internally routed, but Tina's is!

It'd be handy for keeping the dirt out. I would want to make sure it'd be
very hard for dirt to get squirted in, because once it got in, I don't see
how you'd be able to clean it out.

They ran the cables under the BB, which is a great place for them to get
dirty. Do not want.

I know of a local frame builder that also races in 'cross who builds
with internal cable routing ...

Is there a reason why cross bikes do not have internally-routed cables,
especially shifter cables?

This Specialized prototype has them and I have never seen them on a cross bike
before (but I don't get out much).

Thank you.
