Question about Master's CategoriesYou can move up to Cat 3 in a number of

ways- it does not matter if in the Cat 4/5's or the Masters

1. Race 10 road events - Criteriums or Road Races, no time trials or

2. Race a full season, or

3. Earn 15 points by placing in the top 6. Points earned 7,5,4,3,2,1 or

4. any combination of the 3

When you want to move to a cat 2, you must earn the points in Cat 3 events

with 60 or more riders in them

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Question about Master's Categories

I've got a question about all of this. I didn't start racing 'again' until

this year and I'm 48. I live in Bend and it is tough to get over the

mountain to do many of the races. I would like to have the option of moving

up in the categories, but it seems that not all races are divided up with

Masters' categories. I see age difference categories like Masters 35+ and

Masters 45+. So my questions are 1) do I earn points to move up in Masters

categories by racing in open Cat 4/5 races and 2) do PIR races count towards

these points?

Thanks

Pat
