All that, as well as the cheap brakes I had on that bike were the mirror image most brakes to if I put the front on the right it made the cables routing the same as everyone else's.

There are quite a few reasons we used to have front brake on right (I still do). My reason was when I was a kid most of the cycling magazines about racing came from Great Britain, and that is how they do it. I am not sure why they do it that way. Most other Europeans do front brake on left. Two I had a motorcycle when I was 16 and that also has front brake on right, rear brake is pedal and left lever is the clutch. So you will see many motorcyclists also have front brake on on right. Cyclocross is the last reason I know of. Most of us dismount on the left so we like to have our rear brake on the left. I happen to fall into all of these reasons, I don't know about Mike. I loved all of those photos also. Good memories of old friends.
I also am thinking of David Auker. When I entered the road racing scene in Oregon David Auker was already considered a legend. There are so many memories I can't even begin to list them. I just hope we will have more to come. Get Well David.
