To the tall woman with no tights who I chatted with at the bonfire, and then
saw on the side of the course: First, thank you. It's always good to meet
friendly folks at races, and I needed some encouraging camaraderie in the
cold today. Second, I'm sorry to put you in this position. When I was out
on the course, suddenly blind with my glasses fogged on the inside and
irrevocably mudded on the outside, I was at a loss. My winter jersey has no
pockets (dumb, I know). My cheering friends were nowhere to be seen. And
there you were: not racing (did you mechanical out? If so, I'm sorry for
your bad day!) but on the side of the course, a familiar (if only just)
face. I panicked. I said "hold these?" and you said "yes" and I threw my
glasses at you. And then after the race, my kiddo freaked out and I
couldn't feel my fingers and we bundled into the car and split, and I didn't
even have a chance to look for you. I came back an hour later and checked
with lost & found, etc-- found two pairs of lost glasses, but not mine.
So: do you still have them? I'd love to get them back! Please contact me
at katie.proctor@gmail.com or call 607 262 0439.
Thanks!
