Ron and Dorothy Strasser
Kris and his Crew did Kruger's right! Not sure how the weather factored into the show, but I have raced every Kruger's Crossing and this course was the most fun by far. I am not saying it was easy. But it was just a blast. It seemed to have the right mix of corners, obstacles, surfaces that it just kept me totally engaged each lap. I had a good deal of mud on my bike when done, but not nearly the amount of fibrous material that rips parts off bikes. Just the normal grass etc. I think the later races had more soupy mud from what I could determine. Races until mid day were very tricky and sticky (more like Saturday race). The stairs , stack of straw and pumpkins were perfect! I know I spent way too much time before (and after) my race keeping the pumpkin barrier credible and not just foo-foo or stupid. We worked to make it do-able if ridden properly, bunny-hopped or dismounted and run (all of these options were used). At one point before the Women's race one racer came up to us and asked why we were doing that "we have to ride through there"....to which we replied, "that is why we are doing it". I was temped to give her a little smack talk during race, but my soft heart would not allow it. Someone figured she was just a racer from "Seattle". At any rate. Thanks to all the racer's hard work, the pumpkins are sliced and diced for Thanksgiving. It looked like most racers all day were tested and did have fun. The crowd was super supportive. Sorry I missed the kiddies and doggie races, but needed to change into warm clothes. I hope (fans/parents made sound positive) those went well. The kids (and yes the dogs as well) know how to keep it simple and make it fun. Thanks Kris Schamp, Don Kruger, Sponsors, Volunteers and OBRA for a sanctioned day to play in the mud on the farm. It was pretty neat to have Torsten Kjellstrand and Peter Spir blow by me on the straight before the barn and then see all three S&M riders finish right after each other. FUN DAY!
support Crossaflixion, Psycho this coming weekend!
