Team Tents at USGP

2010-11-29

As usual, there isn’t much room on the infield paddock parking at PIR for
the US Gran Prix of Cyclocross Stanley Portland Cup (4/5 December 2010). The
standard “PIR Team Tent Parking” process will be used. There is a $100 fee
(cash or check) for team tent access. To sign up your team, EMAIL ME (
aewilson.portland@gmail.com ) with the subject "TEAM TENT PARKING", your
team name and your team’s intention to park in team parking. Please, only
one email per team. A parking pass will be provided for one team vehicle;
that pass must be displayed on the dashboard of that team vehicle while in
the venue and shown to parking staff.

The pass can be picked up at the venue on Friday between 10 and no later
than 4:30 (try the big white tent), at the Hopworks number party between 6
and 8 or at the venue on the day of the event. The tent spots will be
available on a first-come, first-served basis to those that have passes.

Refer to the preliminary course map (
http://bit.ly/USGP2010_StanleyPortlandCup ) for the two areas in the infield
identified as "Team Tents - Tarmac" and "Team Tents - Turf". While there
are a quite a few spots, ultimately the number of “Team Tent / Tarmac*”
sites (the 10x30 foot rectangles east of the start chute) is limited. These
are the traditional USGP team tent spots with 10' of frontage and 30' deep.
There is a lot more on-course real estate for team tents in the grass north
of this part of the tarmac where the course will be going by on both sides.

When setting up a team site, leave a 6’ passageway between your tent and the
course for race spectators to pass and or join in camaraderie. Also, tents
on the tarmac should only be one parking lane wide (a 10x15 tent would front
on the 10’ side, not the 15’ side) where they front the course.

Access to team tents will be available Friday between 10:00 and 4:30 and on
the weekend after 6:30.

- Unless otherwise notified, no vehicles will be allowed on the grass in
any part of PIR. Vehicles parked on the grass will likely be towed.
- Only one vehicle can enter per team pass. No exceptions, all other
vehicles will have to park in the main participant/spectator lot ($3/car).
Access to the infield will always be available via the pedestrian bridge and
extra material may always be schlepped in that way. Unauthorized
vehicles may be towed, impounded or otherwise harassed.
- All participants, spectators and other people associated with the USGP
must leave the PIR premises BEFORE 5:00 p.m. on each day.
- No overnighting is allowed in any vehicle, RV, tent or any other
location inside the PIR venue. All people must leave the PIR premises
before 5 pm on each day.
- No bicycles/bicyclists are allowed to ride/warm up on the PIR Race
Track. Due to past issues with poor racer behavior and safety issues of the
Christmas Lights, it is forbidden by the venue managers and may result in
disqualification from races without prejudice and removal from the venue.

Inside tip -- registration in the morning is cold and there are lines.
Pre-registration is still available (until Dec 1) and can be done in the
warm glow of your computer.
