USGP Friday Events #2 - Hopworks Number Ceremony

2010-11-29

Ceremonial assignment of numbers for the lead racers in the US Gran Prix
Championship Series will once again be made Friday night at Hopworks Urban
Brewery (2944 SE Powell Blvd, Portland, OR).

This event runs from 6 pm to 8 pm, Portland Standard Time.

In addition to rubbing elbows with the top national cyclocross racers that
are contenders in the USGP elite fields, there will be:

- More Hopworks beer than you can drink (it’s at the brewery, after all)
available for a respectful price.
- There will be a good chance to talk about how well you and your mates
are going to do in the next two days of ‘crossing.
- A hair-of-the-dog “how crazy the Crusade party was the night before”
recuperation.
- There is an on-venue feed-zone upstairs at the Hopworks restaurant for
pre and post event feeding. I hear hand ups are even legal.
- Finally, filling in the gaps Friday night at the loading dock, like
icing on a cake, will be some hot DV video to go with the fun – in addition
to GoPro spectator, bike and heli-mounted video there will be other more
traditional vid-clips from the 2010 Oregon season. Thrills, spills and
excitement, but promise, no harness racing.

Note that *pre-registered* racers (go to
http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=11411, remember pre-reg
closes 1 December at 11:45 PM ET) may pick up their numbers at the Hopworks
number ceremony event for Saturday *and* Sunday races that they are
participating in. Racers need to pick up their numbers in person.

There will also be in-person race day registration at the Hopworks number
ceremony for the Saturday and Sunday races. Once again, racers need to do
this in person. Also, cash or non-rubber checks only, sorry. (Picking up
pre-reg numbers is easy, the registration takes longer and race day
registration --which this is close enough to be-- has a one time $10 fee.)

OK. You still shouldn’t park on the grass at Hopworks, but you are free to
stay after 5pm and even warmup on the Hopworks track, if you can find it.
