Oregon Shepherd driver = bad Santa

My 2 cents: State your case clearly and politely. Then tell them to keep in mind that the OBRA email list reaches a LOT of people (anyone got the latest headcount?).

Also, if someone does something that shows common sense and/or good manners, let them know. It's Basic Parenting 101: reward good behavior.

------

As Samuel Johnson, the lexicographer, once said: "The thing about common sense is that it is so damned uncommon."

Rwo suggestions for future incidents, good or bad:
1. Mail (as in a Postal Service letter) to the company president. You
should be able to find that information on any company web site.
2. Letters to the Editor, of just about any local or regional publication.
They HATE bad publicity!

P.S.

I will also pass along any positive actions this company takes because a
bad Santa can work for any company.

Okay, you can call the dogs off now. I have had communication from the
general manager of the company and he's had many an e-mail from both
this e-mail and from social networks.

Thanks for your wonderful support. What a great community we all belong
too.

This morning on my way to work I was heading south on Oatfield rd toward
Oregon City minding my own business in the bike lane. Traffic had slowed
a bit due to a truck poking along. After this slowed truck passed me,
two other vehicles passed me, the second of which was a white full
sized, extended cab pickup with a white Oregon Shepherd trailer in tow.
After the Oregon Shepherd truck passed me, he moved over on top of the
line for the bike lane and stayed in that position.

Going downhill a bit and due to the slow truck in front, I came
alongside the Oregon Shepherd truck and slapped, open handed, the side
of the trailer trying to get them to move out a bit. When I came up
alongside the truck, the passenger was laughing wildly at me thinking
they were being quite funny in harassing someone on a bicycle. They
passed me again not really allowing much room between themselves and me,
and, as is normally the case in these parts, the bike lane is a virtual
garbage dump for the road. However, in this case, due to recent storms,
it was particularly hazardous from leaves and blow-down (branches and a
sundry). They were close enough to me that if I'd have hit some of the
garbage in the road and fallen toward the road, they'd have undoubtedly
run over me.

I tried to catch up to the truck again to let them know that Oregon
Shepherd would not be on my shopping list but alas, all I could catch
was the hysteria from the cab of the extended cab pickup.

I called Oregon Shepherd after arriving to work and I spoke with a
gentleman that was in no way going to either tell me who the owners of
the company were let alone talk with them. He took my information and
said he'd check into it but I seriously doubt anything will come of it.

I google'd Oregon Shepherd owners and it looks like Margaret Magruder is
one of the owners. I searched for her on Facebook was wasn't sure I got
her. It looks like she's on Twitter but I don't have a Twitter account.

The behavior of the drivers of that Oregon Shepherd truck was completely
uncalled for and could have been disastrous. And, to behave that way
with the name of a company on your vehicle.

Okay, so I don't think I've been inflammatory here and the facts are
laid out fairly well I believe. It would sure be nice if the owners of
the company caught wind of this and took some sort of action against
this type of behavior.

Oregon Shepard's phone is: 888-629-9665

But, that number won't get an owner.
