Looking for something different to do this year? Curious about lifting weights, but unsure how to start? Making 2011 the year you get stronger and leaner for the upcoming seasons?
I’m currently teaching a bootcamp-style class on Wednesday and Friday evenings at PACE, located at 4829 NE Martin Luther King Blvd,Portland, OR 97211. Class times are 6:30-7:30pm on both evenings. There is a mixture of barbell-based lifting (squats, deadlifts, bench press, overhead press, pullups, etc), core work, and what I’ve taken to calling “non-traditional cardio” – this includes various forms of sled pushing/pulling, tire flipping, chain dragging. The easiest way to describe it might be “Strongman/woman intervals”.
I’ve been teaching the class for the last year, and have seen great results from doing simple things with intensity – everyone has gotten stronger and leaner, and the several attendees that are also dragonboaters are reporting being faster than they ever have before.
So if you’re interested in doing something a little different this winter, feel free to contact me off-list (and if you have a way of getting ahold of my phone #, that also works). Class rates are currently $15/class drop-in rate, or $75/month, but the first couple are on the house.
