The last time I rode Shotgun Creek, I was cooking it too hot on one of the mossy off-camber downhills and high-sided.
The time before that, I had to climb down and pull a friend out of a ditch because he slid off the road.
Good times.
It is a very tough climb, so use a low gear. I had a 39x27 and was wishing for more.
I agree with Mike. Friends are good to have along on this one.

These routes were used several times back in the day for the Willamette Valley Stage Race. West Brush Creek is one of the toughest climbs in the area. Watch out descending for Moss, tree fall, etc. These roads are not used often.

That's funny. I was about to say, "Ask Rosenberg."

Yes, both Shotgun Creek Rd and Brush Creek Rd are paved and passable. Both go from Marcola out from Shotgun Creek Park to Crawfordsville. Make sure you study the map well, as there are a couple of intersections that are not marked. It is pretty remote up there. Not sure you should do it alone. Bring your climbing legs and beware of some of the trickiest, most awesome descents around. One of my favorite rides.

In the Eugene/Brownsville area, has anyone ridden the Shotgun Creek road from Marcola to Crawfordsville? Is it paved and/or passable?
Thanks -
Melissa
