I sold this on EBay last night and the buyer backed out. This is a 2007 Kona
"The King" FS mtb- 18". I have made a few significant upgrades on the bike
in the time that I have had it. The original retail price of the bike was
$3,400. I am selling this for $750.
Frame: Kona "The King" FS, 18" scandium tubed bike
Fork: Rock Shox Reba SL Team (upgrade over Fox fork- Reba has remote
lockout, rebound and compression control)
Shock: Fox RP23 w/ Pro-Pedal lever- 3 position
Shifters: SRAM Attack twist shifters (upgrade from XT Shifter pods)
Brakes: Shimano XT (upgrade over stock Hayes OEM brakes)
Stem: Race Face Evolve
Handlebar: Specialized XC Alloy flat bar (switched out from original riser
bar- this is a more aggressive feel)
Grips: ODI Lock on
Headset: FSA Orbit
Cranks/ BB: Race Face Evolve
Derailleur's: Shimano XT
Chain: XTR
Wheels: Shimano WH-M765 tubeless wheels (upgrade over stock FSA wheels which
were notoriously flexy and prone to spokes breaking)
Tires: Maxxis Ignitor and Crossmark tubeless tires (I will also include a
brand new, never used, still in package set of Michelin Wild Gripr and Racr
tires)
Saddle: Fizik Nisene (upgrade over stock WTB)
Seatpost: Race Face Evolve
Aside from the usual cosmetic blemishes, paint chips, etc, the bike works
fine. The bike has been raced and ridden on the trails for the past 4 years.
In light of that, some of the parts have very little wear on them:
. The fork and the brakes are both 1 year old and were installed on
the bike at the beginning of the 2010 season.
. The cranks/ BB, and the headset were original equipment on the
bike, but as soon as I got the bike, I swapped them out for lighter
components I had on hand. They were put on a spare bike that was only used
for cruising and not for racing or trail riding. Thus, they are in excellent
condition.
As far as work that needs to be done, aside from my previous post about the
water bottle cage bolt hole needing to be fixed, I would recommend new
derailleur cable and housing. As for the rear linkage, while I think the
bike is ok and there is no significant play, it might be worth looking into
replacing the bearings. They were replaced 2 years ago, but obviously the
bike has been ridden since then. I have dropped the price of the bike with
these thoughts in mind.
It is a great race bike but I got a new one this year and this one needs a
good home.
Please reply off list if interested.
Thanks.
