Rd. I did it yesterday on Michelin Axial Carbon 700x23 with no problem.
Gearing: 42x18 fixed. Very nice climb, looked like about 3+ miles, 1000 ft
elevation gain, not very steep. It's packed gravel/dirt after the gate, but
not much that impacts skinny tires, as the gravel is pea-sized, about like
on park trails.
Bright colors are a good idea, as downhill mtb's can be encountered, and
being seen quickly could be beneficial to your health...:-)
Saltzman Rd: bottom: off Hwy 30, between Portland and St John's Bridge.
top: about one mile N. of Thompson.
Nice! Almost entirely w/in Forest Park, no motor vehicles.
