Phone Choice?

Get the Motorola Defy (Im emailing on my Defy right now).. Its the only
waterproof, rugged smartphone. I don't worry about putting it in a silly
plastic bag while riding, and I have gotten it completely submerged in
water. Its an awesome phone and will do almost anything you want it to. The
weakest part is that it runs on Tmobile, not the most fast or coverage
network, but hey, I got service in Echo with it today.

So if you want a phone as a tool, go for the Moto Defy. If you want a phone
as a fasion device, go for an iPhone 4.

A quick Google search tells me that Motorola Defy is on Verizon,
Motorola i1 on Sprint/Nextel, and there may be a Motorola "Jordan" on
T-mobile.

I've been riding with one of these waterproof covers since late July.
I paid $9 for mine and it's been fine in rain and sweat.

What phone you can get will be limited by which carrier you are on
unless you are going to change carriers to get the phone you want.

A friend of mine uses this phone http://goo.gl/XiJD with Verizon. I
can't really recall of the top of my head of another ruggedized
Android handset.

Swiss Army makes these cool soft sunglass cases. I place my iPhone, but my
friends droid fits too. It slides easily into bib pockets.

I don't know for Android based but you can get Otter Box cases for the iPhone, pretty darn tough and water resistant. I also put mine in a ziploc bag with a pack of silica gel to really make sure it stays dry. Really the phone killer is moisture, especially if u keep ur ph in a jersey pocket and wear a vest or jacket over the top.

Hi,

I am kind of hard on my phones, and I always ride with mine in my jersey
pocket.

My phone just stopped working yesterday, so I'm looking for recommendations
for a durable Android based phone.

If anyone has had good luck with such a phone while riding - not breaking,
reliable...please share with me what you're using.

What do you use? And how do you keep it safe while riding?

Thanks,
Erik
