Free to a Good Home - Late '80s Nishiki Tandem

We have a Nishiki tandem from the late '80s that has been waiting patiently for a good home ever since my daughter decided she preferred single bikes to riding with dad. It completed Seattle to Portland once, but is dated & heavy by current standards. I would be happy if it found a new home with people who would ride it.

The bike is sized for two adults. I am 5'9" & normally ride a 54 frame. The pilot is about a 58 but I can ride it fine with a little stretch standing over it. The stoker is about a 52-53. My daughter was around 5'4" the last few times we rode it.

It is rideable now as it sits. Several of the components could be upgraded to current styles easily. The biggest question would be whether you are comfortable with old-style friction shifting using bar-end shifters. The current pedals are old Looks (including a pair of the original Look model) compatible with currently available Look cleats and, the wheels are currently running schrader valves rather than presta.
