Race # 10 and the finals are coming up Sunday and while some of you are
secure in your place we have a few fights on our hands for the Custom Primal
Wear Series Champion Jerseys and overall top 3 in the series

Picketts charge is a great course, one of the best and the conditions are
amazing right now.

Series Results are at
http://www.mudslingerevents.com/2011-oregon-xc-mtb-series/oregon-xc-mtb-series-results/

Its your best 7 results, so this weekend on the recently uncovered and
snowless Picketts course may be your ticket to getting into the top 3.

Looks like for sure we will have a Battle for 3rd overall Team with
bicycleattorney.com and Team S & M.

Pisis Cycling Team have Secured 1st place overall and Team Dirt is once
again in Second. Maybe I need to recruit Don Leet?

Anyway thanks to our great sponsors Rivercity Bicycles, Deschutes Brewery,
Primal Wear, Yakima, Tifosi, Giant

I will be giving out swag to the top 3 teams overall and as well as medals
for those who have secured there spot
see ya soon

Hey

WOW, Mid way this weekend for the series and it may be a bit chilly (go
figure) in any case the competition and course will be excellent as
Webcyclery Hosts the annual Chainbreaker. Last year saw 408 riders attend
and I am thinking a few more may get them past Echo red to reds Record 2011
attendance of 431.

Series Standings are updated with S & M charging into 2nd overall ahead of
Team Dirt and bicycleattorney.com. Pistis still holds the lead but anything
can happen with 6 races left and the best 7 overall team results. Memory
serves me that S & M does not travel well to Bend, so things may be shaken
up a bit. (we will see with new members shaking it up)

Individual Points are very close across the board with Sean Babcock (S & M)
holding his lead over Justin Finn (Spooky Cycles) in the Pro Men

Some other competitions are super close and will be sorted out in the coming
weeks as the best 7 of 10 will determine the overall Champions for Custom
Jerseys and Team Trophies and Prizes.

http://www.mudslingerevents.com/2011-oregon-xc-mtb-series/oregon-xc-mtb-series-results/

Also remember that if you do upgrade (some are very close 2 top 3's/full
fields) that you do carry 50% of your points to the next category. This will
not be very many of you (5 or 6 with 2 podiums) but for those that
voluntarily upgrade or get bumped up through this weekend, please know this.

We had someone go from Cat 3 to Cat 2 and now she is in 3rd, so winning the
next category or placing top 3 is possible. Thanks for moving up on your
own!

Some things to remember about upgrades.

- 3 top 3's in a Calendar year
- Full Fields (10 for women and 15 for men)
- No upgrades for 40+ men and women from Cat 1 to Pro

Have fun and if you do get into upgrade territory from race #6 on you can
finish the series then go to the next cateogry.

See you Sunday for a great race

Hey

Now that the Sun is gone for a few days I have time to reflect on a great
Mudslinger thanks to all of you. I did miss Mr Ron Strasser and hope to see
him soon as in some ways there were so many new faces that it felt slightly
different but awesome as 65 degree's can make anyone feel like a rock star
this year.

Thanks for the Great Prizes (Peak Sports,Chris King oh the sweet Bottom
brackets, Specialized (29er frame) and a ton of tires and helmets Deschutes
Brewery, Yakima,Io-Bio, Club Ride, Ergon, Great Harvest Bread of Corvallis,
and many more)

Series results are posted and Pistis is Back in Charge with Team Dirt
Charging to Second place after 3 events

Now its going to get good as the races click by week after week

Bear Springs (Wool socks possible) that creek has to be high, and the snow
is gone or very little from what I hear

Chainbreaker (start fast and suffer) go go go, and for me.......pace as its
38.6 miles (early season Marathon for the long course

Spring Thaw for my family (girls) its the Yogurt Hut, for me its hang on
that wheel and try to drop riders on the flat, or catch on the watershed
road (I wonder how the snow is up there)

Then a week break and on to Sisters.

Don't let the season pass you by, see you soon

Hey Guys

Man, thats a long break between races. I hope to see you next weekend for
Race # 2 at Hornings. Tom Hoffman and his crew are working on putting the
final details on this fast course.
Its a fast and tough short loop with Punchy climbs and will test your front
tire/rear tire traction and lactate threshold. I am not quite sure, but I
bet if it is wet a cross bike may work well also, so all of you people who
only own a cross bike bring them. In fact I have had people win races at the
Mudslinger with a cross bike. You may want to run a tire liner if you do
that at Mudslinger but it can work.

Series Standings are up and with all of those fast out of State riders at
Echo if you placed well, you are fast indeed.

23rd Peak Sports Mudslinger

Race # 3 Registration is Open and the first 250 will get a Custom Purist
Specialized/Mudslinger Water bottle along with guaranteeing your pasta and
bread. Last year we cut it close with our estimate and do bring food for
more but if you want to make sure Pre-register. Its not cool to run out and
my family will take care of you after the race. My personal record is 460
riders in 95, and I believe 520 or so was the biggest, but that was with 100
from California and 75 from Washington and 75 from Idaho

Back to the race, 3 weeks from today (Saturday 4/23) Day before Easter and
yes we will be having a Easter Egg hunt for the Kids and a Kids Race at 1:30
prior to awards

- Cash for the Pros
- thousands in raffle from Specialized, Club Ride, Ergon, Io-Bio, Tifosi,
Hammer Nutrition and many more
- Mass start (300-400 people up 3 miles of logging roads (not that steep)
- Day of registration from 7-9:30am Racer meeting at 10:15 and we will
roll out at 10:30 for the neutral start for almost 1 mile. You will spread
out quickly.

Your wondering why a mass start, Public urination and a complaint last year
to the county and sheriff , Now after we start you can stop and pull over
away from driveways or other people besides racers after you climb for 10-15
minutes.

12 miles and 1500 ft for Cat 3's 1 hr to 1:45
21 miles and 3800 feet for all others. 1:45-2:45
I am leaning towards running the Clydesdles on the 21 mile course

A well marked excellent course with 1-3 mile climbs and fast descents. last
year it was 61 and dry for 80% of the course, Can't promise above 55
degree's, but you will warm up quick and pack that front fender and a good
front tire.
Custom T-shirts for the first 125 who purchase then I am out. Black and with
white graphics with 2011 on the sleeve
Link to race
http://www.mudslingerevents.com/mountain-bike-races/mudslinger-mtb-race/

This is your gateway drug to the rest of my madness. Test of Endurance 50 is
just 2 months after Mudslinger so come warm up with the Mudslinger.

Make sure if you purchase an OBRA license to save the receipt as I will have
to charge you 5.00 (non refundable) if you forget your license or receipt. I
guess some people were racing all year with no license (could not be a
mountain biker could it?)
