Subject: Kings Valley Road Race Bulletin: Forward to OBRA list, please.

Hello OBRA members:
The Second Saturday in April is nearly here and many of you have
pre-registered for “La Doyenne of Oregon Cycling”, the Kings Valley Road
Race. Racers who have pre-registered in the past for Kings Valley will know
that unlike many events that make you stand in line even if you
pre-registered, Kings Valley has an “Executive Check-In” table for those
clever enough to pre-register. You simply stop by the table, state your
name and (assuming all is well with your entry, i.e. you have provided the
required information, signed your release form, and paid your fee) you are
checked in and free to begin your pre-race preparatory regimen. You can
still preregister via mail through Wednesday, April 6th.
Obviously, if you decline to take advantage of pre-registration, you still
may do so the morning of the race as we have veteran registration staffers
that are well used to processing throngs of bike racer registrations at
blazing speed.
Meanwhile, the good folks at ODOT, Benton and Polk Counties have done an
excellent job of resurfacing a good portion of the course and Kings Valley
Road Race veterans will be pleased to notice very smooth pavement throughout
the 19.5 mile circuit.
We’d like to note a special thanks to the Therapeutic Associates
Cycling/Sagebrush Cycles team as last year they encouraged us to add a
separate field for Cat IV Women. That addition proved to be a big success
and the Therapeutic Associates Cycling/Sagebrush Cycles team stepped up
again this year and helped us out with support drivers for the women’s
fields.
Also, if you are strong, clever, or lucky enough to finish in the prizes,
please hang about after the race and collect your winnings. We and your
intrepid OBRA officiating crew initiated a new system last year which worked
very well to get prize results posted with extreme alacrity and allowed us
to present cash awards and have our annual lil’ awards ceremony shortly
after each race finish. If you need to leave before you can collect your
cash, we have an easy little form so that you can provide us with your
information so that we can remit payment to you quickly.
Cameron and I are all set for another great edition of the race and the
current weather forecast looks like more perfect racing weather is in store,
as is the norm on the Second Saturday in April at the Kings Valley Road Race
See y’all at the race!
