Subject: Kings Valley Road Race Final Bulletin: Please forward to OBRA List.

Hello OBRA members:

It’s the Second Friday in April and that means two things for bike racers in
the Northwest:

1) The weather in Kings Valley Oregon is now perfect for bike racing
and;

2) The Second Saturday in April and thus the Nearly World Famous Kings
Valley Road Race is tomorrow!

A few final thoughts prior to the race tomorrow:

1) Ask your teammates who have attended our race for many years about
the weather at Kings Valley. Regardless of the forecast or what it’s like
in Portland at 6:00 AM, it is almost always excellent racing weather in
Kings Valley on the morning of the Second Saturday in April.

2) Note that the Kings Valley Store no longer sells gas, so don’t plan
on getting gas in Kings Valley. Do stop in for post-race food, however as
they have sandwiches and an assortment of post-race bike racer snacks.

3) Please help us retain this course for the future by respecting the
local folks before, during and after the race. Remember, it is their
community and ultimately it is the local community that decides to let us
use their beautiful course for our race every year. The major “good bike
racer citizen” requests are as follows;

a. Make use of the ample Kings Valley Commemorative Portapotties for
your “private time” “needs.

b. Don’t trespass on the staging area’s neighbor’s property, and

c. Keep the finish area road clear after you finish racing. Prize
presentations will begin shortly after race finishes, thanks to the
cleverness of your OBRA officiating crew, so make your way to the start area
after you finish your race.

4) Observant readers of the OBRA ruleset will notice that the Kings
Valley Road Race has a stricter centerline rule than is currently in effect
for OBRA single day races in general. If you cross the centerline, the
officials will disqualify you if they determine that your action merits
disqualification.

5) Finally, we’d like to recognize the Therapeutic Associates
Cycling/Sagebrush Cycles Team for helping us again this year with support
drivers for the Women’s fields..
