SPD Issue--tech question

I'd agree with Mark. I have had the same problem with Ritchey Cleats.
Interestingly enough, I have found that the Wellgo 98A cleats will work
perfectly with my Shimano and Ritchey pedals. Although, I was using Shimano
pedals that were a couple years older. If you can find the Wellgo cleats,
give them a try.

ritchey cleats are the issue, they are close but not the same as actual shimano
cleats.

Subject: [OBRA Chat] SPD Issue--tech question

I recently purchased a pair of 2011 Specialized Pro mountain bike shoes. I put a
new pair of Ritchey SPD-type cleats on them. I used the twice with2010 Shimano
970 XTR pedals with no problems at all. I then tried to use them with 2011
Shimano 980 XTR pedals and I can't unclip. They go in tight too. I have the
tension turned all the way down and the issue persisted.

I know Shimano changed the platform design on the 980. Am I learning that the
shoe is not going to work with the 980 pedal. I have a pair of Sidis that work
no problem with the 980.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike

I recently purchased a pair of 2011 Specialized Pro mountain bike shoes. I put a new pair of Ritchey SPD-type cleats on them. I used the twice with2010 Shimano 970 XTR pedals with no problems at all. I then tried to use them with 2011 Shimano 980 XTR pedals and I can't unclip. They go in tight too. I have the tension turned all the way down and the issue persisted.

I know Shimano changed the platform design on the 980. Am I learning that the shoe is not going to work with the 980 pedal. I have a pair of Sidis that work no problem with the 980.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike
