RE: Marathon Nats in Bend, there is no qualifying procedure to do that
event. Like Cyclocross, anyone can do it.

I don't plan on racing XC nats in Sun Valley, but might attend a Saturday
qualifier at Pickets, since I have schedule conflicts for the Sunday race.

I don't want to hi-jack Bill's Poll, but on a related topic... does anyone
know about qualifying requirements for Marathon Nationals in Bend in
September?

I couldn't find any details on the USAC site, and the USAC Nat Champs
qualifying regs linked in Bill's email below don't mention Marathon either
under qualifying or non-qualifying events.

I would like to race Marathon Nationals, but probably wouldn't want to
travel far out of state to qualify for the main event in Bend.

Hi everyone,

Mike Ripley and I have been discussing the possibility of a USAC sanctioned
qualifying race in Bend on Saturday June 25, the day before Pickett's Charge
that would act as a qualifier for Cross-Country Nationals in Sun Valley in
July.

Currently, there are qualifying events scheduled in central Idaho and
central California, with the possibility of one in WA, but I haven't seen
that confirmed.

In order to compete at the XC National event, you must qualify top-15 in
your category in a qualifying race. We think with that margin, we should be
able to have enough categories for everyone who enters to automatically
qualify. We would make the course meet the minimum requirements and knowing
that all would qualify should make the event fun and a great warm-up for
Pickett's. The cost would be just enough to pay for the USAC sanctioning and
additional permits. This will be more of formality and qualifier; Pickett's
will be the real race.

I would like to get an idea of how many people are interested before we say
yes to this.

Please respond directly off-list with your thoughts.

Here are the Qualifying
Regsfrom
USAC.

Thanks!

Bill
