Folks, consider that bicyclists as a class are much more than us racer
types. Here in Bend I regularly see exactly the type of rider they are
are referring to; flat peddling commuter in jeans, no helmet, wobbling
their way against traffic, sometimes in the dark with no lights. It is
appropriate that these people learn the applicable rules of the road.

As for the complaints from some users of Skyliners Road they are also
based on facts. The road is very narrow, with no bike lane or shoulder,
and has areas with limited sight distances. I have a friend who is both
a long time resident of said road and one of our local bicycling good
guys. Even he has voiced public complaint about some riders behavior.

In short, save the outrage for a more appropriate occasion.

Every revolutionary idea seems to evoke three stages of reaction...
One, it's completely impossible.
Two, it's possible, but it's not worth doing.
Three, I said it was a good idea all along.

They do have them. My wife had to go through a diversion class and 3 of the people in her class were there because they failed to give the right of way to the cyclist

How about, not everybody realizes that bicycles have a right to be on
the road? Where's the class for asshat motorist to learn about bicycle
rights and safety?
