Subject: [OBRA Chat] Alpenrose and my business

Over the past few days I have put in over 20 hours of work out there, and I
have heard a lot of funny comments towards me.
The biggest one is if I'm not even a track racer then why am I doing this.
The other funny comment is that I am being refered to as "the pressure
washing guy."
I have met a lot of new faces out there in the past few days and I love to
see the OBRA community all pulling together to help out. One new face is
David Boerner, a new member to OBRA and a writter for bikeportland.
To answer some of these comments on why I'm out there is in two parts. One
is that I have the skills to help out an association that does so much for
us racers. It's my way to say "Thank You OBRA." The other reason is for my
new business. I look at it this way, it was really "Bridge City Pressure
Washing" out there doing tax write off, charity work. It just happens that
the owner, me, is an OBRA member. so for me this is a way that I can help
out OBRA and do some advertisement for my business.
Even though I have been getting work outside of the OBRA community, I still
want to offer all OBRA members the 40% discount on any pressure washing
service that might be needed. No matter how odd the job is, I can do it.
So once again thanks OBRA and thanks for all those that helped out this
weekend.
Also keep in mind that I am starting to work with the track (Mike) on a
better, longer lasting solution for the track this winter. It will be a big
project, and I still have to pay rent. But I am going to lowball any other
pressurewashing/contractor out there so that the track does not go broke and
next year we all will hopefully have a nicer track. And Mike won't have to
go through the headache of just putting another bandaid on the track next
year.
Oh yea, after helping Mike this weekend, I realized maintaining the track is
very tough. So I think Mike and his crew deserves a big KUDOS for all that
has been done over the years! KUDOS, MIKE!!!!

Thanks,
Stewart
