The goal of this event is to produce a mass participation cycling ride catering to all ages and fitness levels. The event takes place on Ryder Hesjedal’s favourite roads that he uses to train for the Tour de France. The event will draw thousands of people to Victoria, and expose them to the beauty of the cycling here. The event promises to become a classic event with a lasting legacy, similar to the Royal Victoria Marathon. In its first year, we expect 1500+ participants, and the long term goal (5 years) is to have 4000 people riding. The event offers a measureable challenge to the participants, an event which they can look forward to partaking in year after year.
The event is a perfect place for potential sponsors and charitable organizations to showcase their product and convey their message to a wide range of people.
Come ride with Ryder as he trains for the 2011 Tour de France.
Products Saturday, May 28th, 2011. This date occurs at the beginning of Bike to Work week in Victoria, creating extra incentive to get people out on their bikes, adding weight to the mass participation model, and complementing the Bike to Work week event.
