Rider etiquette: DL Byron

I agree with the whole concept of chill out. I might only be a cat 4 with only a few years experience, but this whole raceing thing to me seems like it more for fun than trying to make the pro's and become rich.
Sure there are a handful of racers out there that are young enough and talented enough to go pro, and I hope you do. But for all the rest of us, this is for fun. Yea, my first season I dealt with a team out there that were a bunch of wheel suckers, it pissed me off and I ranted to my teammates about it. My more experienced teammates basically said "so?" I sat back and realized, yea, so what? I had fun, and that what matters to me. That I had fun and I came home to my family in one piece and in a good mood.
I like how there is a bit of ediquite (sp?) out there, were all friends, were all fellow racers, and we all want to come home in one piece to our families. I'd rather want to let someone in than take the chance of them clipping my wheel!
So once again, I don't mean this to Byron, but to all of us (including myself), just chill and have fun.
If you really want to prove yourself go race a TT.

My 2 cents.

Maybe he was too busy winning to bother being nice during a bike race.
He also lives here. Passive agressive NW at its most eye rolling. Race
your bike and leave the etiquette to the British.

Excuse me, would you mind if I pass you for position? Unbelievable.

testosterone doping?
gas prices?
girlfriend break up?
None of these is a good excuse for over reacting.
I once got the same response when I asked someone to lead me out. Sometimes
it works.

Hey, I just wanted to say that I only listserved this because I wanted to try to relax things a bit and get some of the more angrier riders out there thinking.

And I only put Byron's name on it because I wanted him to see it. He's a cool guy and didn't do anything that we don't all do on our grumpier days.

I just wanted to say, 'everybody chill'. Self included. Sorry I got too snipy about it.

To the rider who wants to f*ck me:

If I'm remembering your number correctly, you're DL Byron from Seattle and
when I tapped you on the hip last night at PIR, you put your face in my ear
and spit-shouted your loudest F*CK YOU!
I queried, "F*ck me?"
Yeah, "F*****CK YOOOOU!"
"How so?"

Okay, had I the time or breath to say it, I would have said--

Is that really how your deciding to handle someone politely asking for a
lane to pop through so that he can move up the side of the pack? I mean, if
you don't want to move, don't. You outweigh me by 50 pounds, I'm sure
that's an option. Or you could switch spots with me, get in my draft and
enjoy an effortless glide up the side to where the action is. Or if you're
where you want to be, you can still let me out and retain your spot. 3
viable options.

So, welcome to Oregon. We're all friends here. If you don't like how
someone races, you race better than them, beat them and then laugh at them
and then buy them a soda. So, try to keep your cool when you come down
here. A tap on a hip to make sure you know I'm there is in the interest of
safety and a simple communication when you don't have the breath to make a
formal announcement of your intentions and the proposed outcomes.

Do you have a sore hip that I'm unaware of? Sorry if I exacerbated your
injury. I hope it didn't hurt during your drive back to Seattle-- the Los
Angeles of the northwest. Please, if you came down to showcase your talents
for road rage, at least save it for the guy that chops your wheel sprinting
for 45th place and sends you to the hospital with a broken hip.
