Thanks for all the private replies and help. Today I had a better ride after having fixed the in line barrel adjuster. The in line adjuster was moving itself when the bike would hit bumps so I filed the threads on the silver part to increase friction inside the unit and filed an index mark on the outside of the black aluminum housing. This way I can see right away if it moves again. It used to adjust itself a quarter turn just descending westwood one time. I still would like better shifting though. I think the in line barrel adjuster may be adding some play into the system. I may get rid of it and replace it with straight housing. Arlo
