I should have been more clear in my post. I intended to ask a slightly different question from the racing/supplemental insurance discussion. My question related to any cyclist who is injured by an auto while riding on a public street.
Even if the cyclist was at fault, if they otherwise qualify for coverage, they would, I believe, be entitled to PIP benefits under their own insurance. PIP benefits provide coverage for both medical expenses and wage loss up to certain limits.

I take it if you crash and are injured to the point where you need to
file a claim, that you would not receive any type of wage,
compensation or profit.
Or is this one of those cases where I'm interpreting the policy too literally?
