Mt. Hood Cycling Classic
Dear NW Racers,
I want to give all of you a couple of quick updates.
Registration
For starters registration is going strong and we are looking for a good turnout this year. In fact as of right now we only have 6 spots left in the Pro 1-2 Men's race and 20 spots left in the masters 35+/45+ race. If you plan to do either of the races be sure and sign up right away so that you are not left out. Registration for everyone closes one week from today.
Rider List
There is a registered riders list post on our website at http://www.mthoodcyclingclassic.com/rider-list/ This reflects all registrations as of 8:00 PM last night. If you do not find yourself on this list and have registered please contact Lori at lori@breakawaypromotions.com IMPORTANT!!! Pro 1-2 women due to the new restrictions with the UCI and professional riders participating we will be required to run the event as a USA Cycling event just like the Men's Pro 1-2 race. You will have to have a valid license in order to participate.
Course Updates
All courses are open for riding with the exception of the 3 Summits Road Race. This course is still buried under 7 feet of snow in places. Just to confirm it will not be melted by next weekend. Due to the incredibly wet cold weather this spring and a HUGE snow pack Summit #1 at Lost Lake is still buried under 2 miles of snow coverage and Summit #2 on Vista Ridge is under 4 miles. 3 Miles of road up to Lost Lake Resort have been plowed already. If you want to see some really impressive pictures check out yesterdays course scouting trip on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/mthoodcyclingclassic So what does all this mean? Well for all of you participating it means a backdrop and scenery that you will not experience at another race this year. Imagine snaking through 9 miles of road that has been trenched out with 5-10 foot high walls of snow on either side. It looks even more impressive on the single lane forest service roads. What does that mean for us here at the Mt. Hood Classic Cycling crew? A TON of work in the next 7 days and thousands of dollars in plowing costs to make it happen for all of you. We are here to provide the most amazing racing opportunity possible and this year will be exceptional.
