Folks-

Our support of the BTA pays off. Captain Todd Wyatt wrote on behalf
of the Portland Police Bureau in support of this law.

Subject: BTA passed our legislative priority bill!

Friends,

This afternoon the Bicycle Transportation Alliance passed SB 415 to
improve Vulnerable Road User law in Oregon!

The bill will make it easier for Police officers around the state to
use and enforce Oregon's landmark law protecting people who ride bikes
and walk.

Attached is a letter from Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Division
Captain Todd Wyatt with some of the details.

Legislators in the Senate and House were nearly unanimous with their
support, only one voted against the bill among 90 legislators.

It is a testament to our team's hard work and the steady hand of our
public interest champion-lobbyist in Salem, Jonathan Manton, that we
got overwhelming bi-partisan support for our agenda.

Today we celebrate and in the coming weeks we will prepare a bolder
agenda for future legislative sessions focused on increasing funding
for bike safety.

Regards,
Gerik
