This went out to the OBRA email list. But, I know from talking to Steve Hooker that the homeowners up there have been talking to all cyclists about this problem, not just those wearing team kit. Please, if you need to use the restroom, descend down into North Plains and head to the gas station or McDonald's at the intersection with Highway 26. Or wait until you get home! It's not acceptable to use another person's property as your personal toilet. (But, I know you all know this already, right!?)

Please feel free to pass on Ann's email to other cycling lists you may be on.

Thanks,

Susan

Hi Kenji,

I don't know if you are the person to contact about this, but here is our situation.  We live at top of Pumpkin Ridge in North Plains which is a popular stopping point for many bikers and several bike teams. We get close to 30+ bikers a day. Our house is right where the road ends.
We've had a huge issue of bikers going to the bathroom across the road from our house and just inside the tree line in plain view of everyone.  We are tired of cleaning up toliet paper, etc. and asking people to please not use the area for a restroom.  We've posted signs, but it does no good.

We want to make the biking experience a pleasant one for everyone.  Is there anyway possible of having a porta-potty at the end of this bike run?  We will gladly put it next to the road just inside the tree line.  We just don't feel that we should have to pay for it or maintain it.  I've asked several biking teams about it and they all agreed that it is badly needed.  They are 14 miles from the nearest bathroom!

PLEASE help us find a solution to this problem!

Sincerely,
Ann B.

Hey all-

This was already forwarded- but I can't emphasize enough how
unacceptable this sort of behavior is. If you need to go, find
somewhere better as Erik V. noted. I've asked Ann to try to note
jersey colors and team names if she can. While it is not our job to
police this, it does reflect poorly on our community.

Thanks.
