Test of Endurance 50 just over a week away

2011-06-10

Lets start with this

http://connect.garmin.com/activity/15117392

the garmin file

Splash in a bit of PB and Jam and 8400 ft, with 50 miles and what do you
get?

One great and somewhat painful time on your bike or you fill in the blank
_____

For some under 4 hrs, for most 5-7 hrs and some look better than others
while finishing

As the weather dries the course is looking excellent as it looks like a
small chance of rain on Sat (30%) and Sunday looks nice

All riders including Clydesdale's and SS do the whole 50 miles except Cat
3's and Junior Cat 2's who turn at the lap point and come back and do just
over 25 but get the experiance of 1 lap at a reduced rate as I want as many
people to get out and into the endurance world of mtb racing/riding

You finish the 50, you get your finisher Pint glass.

Aide stations are at 14 and 25 miles then 38 miles

You can drop a cooler the night before and or in the am for the lap point
and Aide #2 by no later than 8:30am, make sure its small and we will bring
it back by 2:30pm to the finish

Here is the schedule for the Test Of Endurance 50 and the Rivercity Oregon
XC Series Race #9
http://www.mudslingerevents.com/mountain-bike-races/test-of-endurance-50/

Camping available (rsvp with me) just down the HWY (20) behind the cafe (5
minutes drive time from the turnoff to the race)
They are having a Luau Saturday night and a Band and Beer Garden so lots of
fun for sure
Band stops playing at 11pm

Pre-reg and packet pickup Saturday from 5-7 pm at the Forestry Tour area
(start and finish this year) Just up the road from the school, signs will
guide you look for arrows
Save 5.00
Park on Tum Tum rd only right side just pas the entrance as we want to keep
the forestry area clear as possible (1-2 minute walk)

Angie and the cafe will be sending me a breakfast list from 6am to 8am for
all who are interested at the cafe Sunday am

Day of registration is 7-8:30am, yes we may float into 9am but no later as
the race meeting is 9:15 and the race starts promptly at 9:30am
Day of reg is 5.00 more
Please park on Tum Tum rd or only where parking is permitted

Awards at 4:30

The course

So much trail work each year as this year the forest is on Steroids and
should be tested for trail enhancements
Starker Forest owns the land so if you are going out this week, be careful
of logging that could be going on as well as you need a permit for the Tum
Tum Unit, so stop by and grab on, its free
www.*starkerforest*s.com

11 climbs per lap, with so much singletrack that you never get in the
Mudslinger, in fact this course has 3 trails in it that the Mudslinger has
and 6 additional ones for a blast of a time including

Trail of ferns
Dinner and a Movie (its a wild ride)
Path of imagination (you will see why its called that) and many more

Entry

Enter by yourself or

Enter as a Team prior to the race (by Saturday) and save some cash
Teams must have a team jersey and yes it can be all white or all black

*Everyone is scored solo regardless,* but as a Team your 5 person team is
also scored for overall fastest combined time of 4 riders who cross the line
first

last year the course record was shattered at 15:38 for 4 riders and the mens
and womens time was broken also at 4:48 (Alice Pennington) and 3:38 (Carl
Decker)
Looks like dry conditions could have me forking out the cash again as if the
womens record is broken its 500.00 and the Mens 750.00 along with 1000.00 to
break the team record

500.00 First place Team money for masters and Open teams
1000.00 overall cash for individuals overall for men and women

Consolation prizes include Deschutes Brewery Dinner for Masters teams and
Open teams for 2nd place

We do have a couple competition for coed as well and let me know if you and
your other half want to be tracked

Raffle

You know the drill, lots of great prizes for some of the best in the
business
Chris King, Yakima, Specialized, Ergon, Io Bio, Club Ride and of Course the
best Support from Hammer Nutrition and Peak Sports along with Eugene MTN
rescue on site to pick you up if you fall

We have 2 fundraising groups this year on course

Blodgett summit Grange at Aide #2 (lap point)
Pastega House at AIde #1 Cancer house for families needing a place to stay
in Corvallis

Both groups are great to support and I can't do what I do without your
support and I appreciate all that you do and hope to open more doors to your
riding fitness and skills for many years to come.

Well supported and fun for all levels

See ya soon
