OBRA-land,
I hope everyone will join us in White Salmon on 8/6 and help make the
difference for fallen riders in our community.
As the initial beneficiary of the FOJ Foundation and the inaugural fund
raising ride last August, I can only tell you that without the
generous contributions and assistance from this dedicated group of cyclists,
sponsors, and all those that came to the inaugural ride last summer,
I have no idea where I might be in terms of the financial liability that
would have had a huge impact on myself and family.
As a result of last year's event, I am now out from under a huge financial
liability that would have potentially crushed my financial future for years
to come.
I'm very fortunate to have such great friends who decided that they were not
going to let that happen to me and my family.
Already this year, the FOJ have made contributions to two more fallen riders
within our local community.
We seem to be realizing more and more lately, that there's a tragic linear
stream of riders in our community that are falling hard and sustaining life
changing shortfalls in their medical insurance coverage that will leave them
and their families vulnerable to financial strain that makes recovery even
more challenging, and perhaps, financial ruin.
FOJ will be throwing a bigger event this August 6th and we hope that the
local cycling community will join us for a great ride, and really fun fund
raising event
that will continue to assist fallen riders that remain either without health
insurance or have shortfalls in their medical insurance coverage that
impacts their recovery and return to life, as well as their return to the
sport.
Please, mark your calendar and plan to join FOJ in White Salmon this August
6th.
If the cycling community doesn't step up and take care of our own, who will,
yeah?
Please help FOJ assist our fallen cycling brothers and sisters who need our
support and financial help.
Thanks for reading.

Hello OBRA and Cycling Friends,
Friends of Jack, a Portland-based non profit formed in 2010, will be holding
its 2nd Annual benefit bike ride in White Salmon, WA ( just across the
bridge from Hood River) on Saturday August 6th. The fun starts at 9:00 am.
Two of our targeted indivuduals that we're hoping to help this year are Leia
Tyrrell and David Auker.
Friends of Jack's mission is to help a fallen rider recover from an accident
that occurs while cycling by providing a monetary contribution, and to
cushion the landing so that our fellow riders may focus on their recovery
and heal.
Please join us for a beautiful 30 mile ride with over 2000 feet of climbing,
followed by a party and auction. White Salmon is just one hour away from
Portland, and Friends of Jack, along with our sponsors, will be providing
fun live music, some great food, and beer from Everybody's Brewing!
Check out friendsofjack.org for more details, to register, sponsor a rider,
or to make a donation.
Thanks for reading!
