Camas Downtown Dash

Hey All:

Here's my 2c on the Camas race. I didn't attend the event this year, but I

think I will do it next year as my teammates who raced it were very

positive about it(especially if it is earlier in the year)

Regarding the format change (adding a TT):

I don't know how other people feel about this, but it would make it a more

rounded event. Right now, if you can't sprint you don't have a good chance

at winning.

What is wrong with this? In most stage races be they omniums or timed

events, if you can't Time Trial you don't have a chance of winning. Looks

like you have to be pretty good at sprinting, Crit racing and climbing to

win at Camas the way it is now. The lack of a TT is one of the things that

seems to make the Camas race different.

Hi All,

I really enjoyed the weekend and hope they have it back again next year. I

have a few suggestions that might make it better (at least to me):

1) Add a Time Trial to the event and make it a timed, not point total,

event.

2) Move it earlier in the year to encourage higher turnout.

3) Have the schedule be: Friday Street Sprints, Saturday Morning TT and

evening Crit, Sunday Road Race.

I don't know how other people feel about this, but it would make it a more

rounded event. Right now, if you can't sprint you don't have a good chance

at winning.

Carl :)

I too had a great time but wanted some more competition in the women's

fields. Dr. Fearn does not even own a bike but really thrives on the

enthusiasm that bike racing creates. He is considering putting on this race

in May or June just to create more participation. Also he is considering

having a prize or trophy for a team GC to encourage more team mates to join

in. This is a race that is worth critiquing and grooming because the venue

and the amount of work he does is WORTH having this race continue. If you

missed this race please plan on fitting it in for next year. Beth
