Heather Clark
Hope you are all planning to join us for the 2011 High Desert Omnium p/b
Bendbroadband this weekend in Bend. We've ordered up some beautiful
80-degree weather for you all plus plenty of other nonracing activities to
keep you well-rounded (Alison Krauss, Bend Summer Festival, Sisters Quilt
Show, etc).
The HDO is Saturday and Sunday and consists of a criterium race Saturday
morning, a time trial Saturday afternoon/evening and a road race on Sunday.
You can choose to compete in one, two, or all three events.
Go to www.highdesertomnium.com for information on prizes and prize money,
stage information and directions, categories and much more.
*Register*
Online at www.obra.org until noon on Friday and not a minute later
In person from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hutch's Bicycles westside (725 N.W. Columbia
St.)
*Important note*: Only those who register by Friday will receive a TT start
time with their category. All others who register on Saturday will be given
the next available start time in order of registration.
Day-of-race registration on Saturday and Sunday closes 30 minutes before the
start of your race. Be prompt please.
*What $50 gets you*
Three awesome bike races, fresh-brewed coffee each morning from Strictly
Organic, a sugar high from American Licorice, high potential for winning
Deschutes beer or knowing someone who won the beer prime, delicious snacks
and treats for your consumption.
*TT start times*
For all those who preregister, TT start times will be posted by 9 p.m.
Friday at www.highdesertomnium.com and emailed to the OBRA list. Start list
will also be posted at the registration table all day Saturday.
*What to bring*
Your OBRA membership card. This is required.
BOTH of your OBRA road numbers. We don't issue separate numbers for this
race.
Water: We will have some (emphasis on some) but those greedy pro/1/2 men
usually drink it all. Please bring more than you think you will need for
before, during and after the races.
*What you don't need to do*
Check-in. This isn't a stage race so we don't need you to tell us you're
here. If you've registered, you are all set and we'll see you at the start
line.
*Volunteer opportunities and bennies*
We are still looking for four lead car drivers for Sunday's road race. Gas
money for you or volunteer a friend or spouse and get your road entry free.
Thanks for coming out to the High Desert Omnium p/b Bendbroadband and thank
you for patronizing the following sponsors.
