My personal favorite way to do Surveyors is to park at the bottom of the trail near the power lines (go up Pinemont Dr off of 35, about half way between Odell and Parkdale) then ride up Rd 17 to Rd 44 and the Surveyors ridge trail head. As I recall, it's 8-10 miles up mixed gravel and paved forest service road, and then about 12 miles of single track down to the car. About 3 hours at an easy pace.
