Fortunately, they are all over! Last week, I visited the new velodrome in
Chicago, as I had just got into my RV and was about to leave, somebody
stopped by to make sure that I wasn't lost.

I was huffing and puffing over Terwilliger today and my legs went to jello.
So I pulled into the street that you take to get to St. Elizabeth's since it
has a nice big turnout area. I was slouched over the bars going through the
basics: Inhale. Exhale. A woman pulled up and asked if I was all right.
I replied that it was a matter of old age and I was fine. That little
encounter made my day. It's the wackos who get most of the "press" but
there are hundreds of decent people who drive cars out there as well.
That being said, I still start with the premise that they're out to get me.
A pessimist is defined as someone who is occasionally pleasantly surprised.
