Jeremy has just completed his most successful season ever!!!
Many people do not know much about Jeremy's work at schools. He has been offering to do free demos at schools for the last 3 years. Many of the schools end up paying him, but his policy is, he never turns down doing a free demo for any school. During these demos Jeremy talks about riding safely and using goals to accomplish something in your life that is important to you!!! In other words set a goal, go for it, and don't let anyone tell you that you can't reach your goal.
This year has already been his best year ever doing these demos. Some of his results include, a six year old that had never written anything in his life. After seeing Jeremy ride and listening to him talk, he wrote his first story... about how he loves to ride his bike. The teacher said Jeremy's demo was worth it, just for this one student. Another letter we got from a parent, she said her son never talks to her about school, but he did after seeing your demo!!! Plus Jeremy gets all kinds of letters from kids telling him how much they learned from his short talk and demo.
Believe me, things don't get much better than knowing you are making an impact on kids. One demo Jeremy signed over 700 postcards and spent the whole morning talking with kids. He even spent lunch at the school going from table to table eating and talking with kids. It was a blast!!!
The highlights of Jeremy's competitions would look like this.
North American Trials Series: did 3 out of 5 events and won 2 out of the three including the finals this last week-end. We got home at 3 a.m. this morning. He missed the first event because he did the Nike Cycling Camp to have an impact on kids and he missed another one because of training and competing in Europe. He ended up in 2nd place in the overall Series.
4th place in the Polish Cup
2nd American at the NORBA National Championships
16th in the UCI World Championships the Highest Placing ever for a US Rider!!!
Every other trials event he placed in the top 3 and he won almost every one of them.
He also won the California State Championship Trials Series
Jeremy also had his best year ever doing large demos at different events around the country, did I say the country? For the first time ever Jeremy actually did demos in Europe too! He spent two days with the Polish World Team doing demos at big festivals in Poland. Of course one of his all time favorite place to do a demos is at the Alpenrose Velodrome Challenge. He is hoping to do one there again this year. Some week-ends over 80,000 people seen his demos.
He is riding better than ever and is still learning more than at any time in his life. He is planning on going to Europe more this next year for competitions, and USA Cycling is arranging some training camps in Europe for Jeremy to attend. He can hardly wait for the competitions to start next year. That will be in January or February for him.
This winter he will spend more time doing school demos and hopefully some demos for stores and companies.
He will also spend a lot of his time looking for sponsors. This is his least favorite part of being a Pro Trials rider. He is hoping to find a company to work with him in developing his school demo program.
Well that's the update, one last thing, he might try to do a few cyclo-cross races this winter, but he is still undecided on that!!!
