Hood River in one WEEK! Be there for the first round of the 2011 Oregon
Junior & High School Cyclocross Series. This is the third year for the
Junior Cyclocross Series (JCS), and the second year for the High School
Series (HSCX). (Check the end of this email for a recap of last year's
results)
Through the generosity of our fantastic sponsors we once again have a rich
awards budget.
Pacific Power and Willamette
Valley Cycling are
bankrolling the Series. Thanks for the support Blue Sky!
Castelli will provide sweet series
champion jerseys for all age categories, and top HS Team.
Hammer Nutrition will provide goodie bags
at registration, Heed at each race, plus grand prize awards.
Redline Bicycles is providing a ton of
merchandise for the grand prize awards and series payout.
Sellwood Cycle Repair is giving the series a
complete Kona CX bike for a grand prize.
Rolf Prima is providing a beautiful set of VCX
Tubular wheels as a grand prize.
Rapha will once again come up with a special award
for the winning High School Team.
OBRA of course is providing discounts to promoters of
the Junior Series, free CX licenses to all juniors and medals three deep for
the High School Teams.
Please show your appreciation of these great sponsors through your
patronage. They care about Juniors and the future of our beloved Cyclocross.
Please return the support. Let them know that their support of Juniors makes
a difference in your life for the positive.
The 2011 JCS is a 7 races series to sort out the top Juniors in age/gender
categories from 10 to 18. New this year. All races count for the series, but
no minimums to qualify for series awards. Medals and series awards are 5
deep in each JSC category. Everyone who races has a chance to win something
at the grand prize awards/raffle. Within that same 7 race series there are 5
races specifically counted for High School Team participation. The High
School Series is the best 4 out of 5 races for TEAM Competition. New this
year we will not have individual High School Awards. The JCS is where the
action is for individuals. It is really easy to form a High School team,
contact John Wilson if you have any questions about getting started.
Corvallis United is back to defend its High School team championship earned
year last year. Look for Team Summit from Bend to try and avenge their
narrow loss in the hotly contested team competition.

The High School Series kicks off the following weekend, Saturday September
24th in Bend at the Crossaflixion #1. We are pleased to announce that the
Bend Endurance Academy has coordinated a Cyclocross Development Camp around
this race. The camp is designed for Junior & High School Cyclocross Racers,
their Coaches and Teams. The BEA Cyclocross Camp includes entry to the
Crossaflixion Race, meals, lots of coaching, drills, rides and gives teams a
chance to socialize and develop at the start of the season. OBRA proudly
supports this camp and we encourage all coaches to attend with their teams.
