Rocky Pt. Rd. gravel

I did not drive all the way to Skyline from the bottom, but encountered two pretty long sections (both above the 1 mile marker from bottom). There may be more sections above where I turned around just past the 2 mile mark.
I do not know the technical name for it, but chip seal sounds fine to me. I can tell it is the process where they lay the tar, spread the gravel and let it dry....end result is a barrier to prevent moister from penetrating the surface for awhile and lots of new loose gravel...even though they do a sweep at some point after process. It also does nothing to repair indentions / holes but just puts this new surface over them.
Just be careful.

When you say "tar and gravel," do you mean 'chip seal'? Regardless, are there long sections of the stuff or is it mainly in the hairpins?

Thanks -

I just returned from Rocky Point road out near Scappoose and the County has been putting a new layer of tar and gravel on several sections of the road. I know many Portland area riders ride out Skyline Road and then down Rocky Point to hwy 30..................WATCH OUT FOR LOOSE GRAVEL! Could very much ruin your day.
