Course Description
Battle at Barlow is held at Sam Barlow High School. This classic, popular former Cross Crusade course is best known for its
challenging, railroad tie stepped run-up and long off- camber section. Two gradual climbs per lap will add to the burn, but overall the course could be described as euro-style: fast, with ample room to pass.

Pre-register at Veloce Bicycles and a chance “demo the new 2012 Jamis Supernova CX bike before it’s even available in dealers!”
We’re setting up a short cross course at a Sewellcrest Park, right next to the shop with barriers to jump etc.
Riders can sign up to demo a bike at the race on Sunday.

Cross Crusade Call-Up Race
Battle at Barlow is one of two events where racers can earn points toward a call-up at the first Cross Crusade race of the season on October 2nd.
Ride a Jamis Demo
Register for the race at Veloce Bicycles Friday, September 23 or Saturday, September 24 and take the opportunity to demo the new 2012 Jamis Supernova CX bike before it’s even available in stores! The Jamis rep will be on hand at the shop Fri/Sat swapping pedals, signing releases, sizing bikes for riders to demo.
Test riders can try out a short cross course at a Sewellcrest Park, right next to the shop with barriers to jump.
Riders can sign up to demo a bike at the Battle at Barlow. The Veloce crew along with the Jamis rep will be onsite to facilitate demos at the race, sizing bikes, changing pedals, etc.

Jamis has donated a 2012 Supernova Frameset for us to raffle.
Raffle tickets will be $2 with proceeds going to the Sam Barlow High school.
Membership & Licenses
OBRA membership required for all riders. Single race memberships are available for $5.00. Season OBRA memberships are available for $10.00 online or $15 at the event.

DIRECTIONS TO SAM BARLOW HIGH SCHOOL
>From Portland and points north and west:
Take I-84 east (Banfield Expressway) out of town and go to Exit 17. The sign for the exit is “Troutdale”. Turn right (south) as you exit. You will be on 257th Avenue which winds up the hill and in front of Mt. Hood Community College. Go about 3 1/2 miles on 257th until you reach Powell Valley Road. Turn left (East) on Powell Valley and go until you reach the Boring-Troutdale Road at the first stop sign -- that is about 2 miles. Make a right turn and then take the first left -- 0.2 miles --onto Lusted Road. You may see a small sign for Sam Barlow High School at this turn. Drive down and up hill for about 1.5 miles until you see Sam Barlow High School on your right. Drive to the stop sign turn right into the parking lot on the side of the school.
>From Oregon City and points south:
Take I-205 north to the Estacada Exit -- exit for State Route 212 and 224. Turn right as you exit the Interstate to get onto 212. After about 3 miles the road splits in a “Y”, take the left fork to Damascus. Continue on Route 212 through Damascus to Boring (4 miles past Damascus). Leave Route 212 in Boring (by going straight ahead instead of taking the right turn to Sandy) and continue on 282 Avenue (the Boring-Troutdale Road) for the next 3 1/2 miles. You will see a turn to the right on Lusted Road -- and may see a small green sign to Sam Barlow High School. Take the right turn on Lusted Road and continue for 1 mile. You will see the school on your right. You may park in the large parking lots behind and at the side of the school on Lusted, or you may continue to the intersection with 302nd Ave and turn right into the parking lot on the side of the school
Notes
No alcohol at the High School.
Please do not ride on the athletic fields or running tracks.
Helmets required.
