Subject: [OBRA Chat] Update on Clark Henry

Clark is now back home after being hit by a car on Sat, Aug 20 while riding his bike to a Team Rose City team ride. I talked to Clark tonite, and he's quite glad to be back home for the past week or so. He did run into a few more complications, mainly as a result of his punctured lung left lung and some internal bleeding. The impact also bruised his heart, and he was basically pretty beat up. He's not back on a bike yet, but he has been going for walks around the neighborhood on his crutches. Pain management is getting better, and he hopes he can get on a wind trainer soon.

Clark wants to say thanks to all of you who have expressed concern or contacted him or family over these past 3 1/2 weeks. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Thanks,

Darell

Here's the latest update on Clark. Just got off the phone with his wife. Clark is currently in the ICU at OHSU. He has several broken ribs on his left side and they may be separated at the back. No surgery planned. He has 2 punctures in his left lung. He also has a bruised heart. Clark is taking O2 by mask, is fully conscious and eating food regularly. His first words to his wife when she got to the ER was "Where's my bike?" Another FYI, Clark had an emergency appendectomy the previous weekend and was back on his bike again this past Tues! On Saturday he was on his way to the Team Rose City ride at Liberty HS when he was hit at the intersection of SW Allen Blvd and Western Ave in Beaverton. He's been training hard since last year for Masters Road Nationals in Bend. Clark is 76 years young. What a bummer.

So bottom line, barring any complications, Clark will recover and be back on his bike again. His wife will let me know when he can accept visitors outside of immediate family. Marge wants to thank all those who have contacted her and offered their support. She's also very appreciative of how the Beaverton Police Dept has treated her and the accident to date.

Thanks everyone for their concern and support.

All-

Clark Henry- one of our long time racers (and oldest active racer) was
hit while riding his bike this morning. He is currently in the
hospital with very serious injuries. Please keep him in your
