Curt and Thomas... you can follow Curt's directions to Siletz and continue South to Toledo. Once across the highway and going into Toledo, take the first major road to the Right (Yaquina Bay road, I think it's called) and ride along the Bay all the way to Newport (not that far). Complete the loop by returning North on Hwy101.

Just before the Siletz River Bridge, turn left on Hwy 229 (Siletz Highway) and follow it all the way down to the little town of Siletz. It's a beautiful, very low-traffic, paved country-road ride along the Siletz River, with maybe 100 yards of gravel/dirt road in the mid-section. There is a pizza place in Siletz if you want to make a lunch stop there. Turn around at Siletz and return the same way. (Or, for a longer, more heavily trafficked ride, continue south to Hwy 20, west into Newport, and then back north to Lincoln City via Hwy 101.) Search for "Gleneden Beach" on Google Maps for a map of the area.

Jeff,
You, your very efficient volunteers, the pro OBRA officials, wonderful Sponsors and Hood River Valley High School provided not just a fun family two day event, but a real test of cyclocross skills for all the contestants. The two courses were very demanding of our constant attention. Thanks so very much for making all of us racers work so hard while having so much fun. The Hood River Double Cross is a bonafide Oregon Cyclocross Classic event. HRDC has earned it?s stars as a top race. Thanks again to all who put so much effort into this positive event. A great way for young and old to spend the weekend!

Subject: [OBRA Chat] Fun Double Cross stuff!
So we've had a lot of venue drama, but here's some cool stuff for Double Cross.
1. We've brought back the Double Cross trophies. Champions for every category (all 19) will get one. (see attached photo).
2. Prizes from DaKine, Packer's Cookies, and local orchards. Three deep, two days, 19 categories.
3. Looks like we'll finally get a little cross weather! Temps about 70, chance of showers.
4. Saturday, a local Relay for Life team will be selling coffee and muffins. Fuel up with some morning java and support a good cause.
5. Sunday, Downtown Waffles from Salem will be slingin' waffles and java.
6. We use the high school wrestling team for our volunteer staff, and the event is a fundraiser for the wrestling club (all ages).
7. At the end of the weekend, we'll be making a donation to the Hood River Valley High School ASB and Athletics fund in appreciation of their support.
8. We have Double Cross t-shirts for sale. Simple and black. What could be better?
Hope to see you out here the next two days! Thanks,

Can someone recommend a person or shop who can braze canti bosses on to my (disc only) Salsa La Cruz? Probably only the seat stays, as I'll probably get a carbon cross fork to replace the current steel (disc only) fork.
Any idea roughly what this might cost?

Anybody have any good cx brakes that they don't want and will sell for cheap? I hate my Cane Creek SCX-5's and need something that is easier to adjust, won't rub on my rims or get stuck in the closed position, and offer more mud clearance. Pauls? Euro TRP's? Something like that? $50? Anybody?
Reply off-list.
Thanks!

Yeah, that was way better than the grassy field last year. Too bad it's gone now but I can say I was there.

There is no gravel...
If doing the loop from Newport, cut off on Otter Crest Loop (Your own private climb along the ocean) and by the Golf Course at Salishan for 4 mi less 101...

Thomas,
From Lincoln City ride a few miles south on Hwy 101, until you reach the Siletz River.

Technically same day coverage.
A great weekend in Hood River. Thanks to Jeff Lorenzen, his crew, and the
OBRA officials for hosting a great two day event. It was a MAGNIFICENT kick
off to the 2011 Oregon Junior Cyclocross Series. I think we had 58 Juniors.
Enjoy the video (editing speed over quality).

Does anyone have a pair of Continental Cross Country 26x1.5 tires for sale?
Or, alternatively, anyone know of a source to purchase the Continental
Cross Country 26x1.5 tires? It would seem that they're not made/available
any more? I have a buddy that wants to give CX a try on his MTB - and I
used to race on these tires - they were perfect all-around tires for 26"
wheels for CX...
Thanks in advance if anyone has a bead on them ... Yes ... I googled and
googled, to no avail. I found one Ebay seller in Germany, who won't ship to
the US.

I've got a 2004 SID SL (80mm) fork that is gonna be too flimsy for my "bulk."
With that said, I'm looking for a fork to trade, trade +$$, or buy for not too much for an older steel mtb I have.
My needs:
>80mm (max, it's an older frame)
>1 1/8" steerer
>at least 7.5" of steerer tube
>NO thru-axle, standard QR
>disc specific is fine
Forks I'd be happy with: anything from Fox, Marzocchi Marathons, Rock Shox Reba or Recon, Manitou Super, older Rock Shox like Duke SL, Air, etc
Off list please.

Hi Everyone,
I just came back from a tradeshow and I am now completely overwhelmed with
business cards (good show.). Does anyone have experience with a business
card scanner that I can use to import all of the data into Outlook or into
an Excel spreadsheet without having to type it all in? I don't want to break
the bank, but I want something that is reliable and can work with cards that
have logos/ graphics on them.
Thanks.
Dave

it's a 1997 GT Aero Edge with a Reynolds 6061 aluminum frame with Edge carbon fork. As aero as any TT bike of that era. It's full Durace 9 speed components with Profile bars and third brake (great for training when the unexpected seems to always happen) ..Carbon Seat post for just a little more road dampening. Of course the Zipps are not included and all I have is a rear Rolf Sestriere with 9sp cassette and CH-AERO wheel covers (a fake disc) I will throw in. I rode that until I could afford better.
