Hey OBRA dirt riders in Portland area.
As of yesterday the Scappoose trails were still posted no entry because of fire danger.
So Tom of NWTA got word from Longview Timberlands via the state police that there were lots of cars out at the trailheads this weekend as well as Monday. This will do us no good with regard to our relationship with Longview even if poachers are not NWTA or OBRA members.
Yes it rained, but until the signs come down, they state the area is closed.
Very important that people know the police just run the database check to find registered owner of vehicle. They know who is out there when the area is closed. They will issue citations and that is money one might spend on bikes (not to mention area being closed to riders).
Please spread the word that it is important for all of the riders to obey the rules. It is not just about their personal convenience. I know people want to ride, but one of the things that reflects as person’s true caring for a cause or another person is the ability to be patient.
Be patient. When it is posted no entry....please do not go in the area.
Thanks all for spreading the word. I would expect the area to re-open soon as the days are getting shorter, there is more dew, and we did get some rain. I do not expect another long hot dry spell.
Thanks so much fellow riders.”
