This question is primarily addressed to race promoters. What fees do you have to pay to city governments for events with closed streets, police escorts, city works barricades, etc.?

I'm involved with several events (most recently the Mt Ashland Hill Climb Bike race), for which we pay the city a fee for police escort and city works people for setting up barricades. These fees are being renegotiated and slated to rise significantly.

I have the sense that some communities have created a more auspicious environment for events than others and I'm curious how that arrangement works.
