Based on the feedback we're getting it looks like the women's category
C will be a reality in 2012.

If you are a women and are interested in C for 2012 continue to
register for your membership as a Cat C (even though it says men only
on the online reg).

Please remember that this is for 2012.

OREGON MANIFEST CONSTRUCTOR'S DESIGN CHALLENGE

Since February, 35 bespoke bike craftsmen, designers, and student teams have been hard at work
creating a new bike for the modern daily rider. On Friday, we'll see the results of this challenge
to create the Ultimate Utility Bike. The Oregon Manifest Constructor's Design Challenge is a
pioneering design/build competition demanding great design and complete functionality.

The moment of truth will be the 51 mile Field Test, produced by Cyclepath. All entry bikes must
perform on-and-off-road, over hills and byways, with a few surprises along the way.

The Oregon Manifest Creative Collaborations have paired 3 global design firms with bespoke bike
craftsmen to create 3 exhibition bikes. This experiment matching Makers and Designers features our
own Ziba Design/Signal Cycles, IDEO/Rock Lobster, and Fuseproject/Sycip Designs.

Join us Friday at PNCA, where we showcase the bike designs and reveal the secret Field Test Route,
and on and Saturday at the Chris King factory for the Field Test Finish Line block party and awards
gala. The Levi's/UO mobile Bike Shop will be in effect both days, offering free tuning and
tailoring for attendees and their bikes.

In true block party style, we'll have bands, beer and other amusements. Winners announced at 6pm.

This question is primarily addressed to race promoters. What fees do you have to pay to city
governments for events with closed streets, police escorts, city works barricades, etc.?

I'm involved with several events (most recently the Mt Ashland Hill Climb Bike race), for which we
pay the city a fee for police escort and city works people for setting up barricades. These fees are
being renegotiated and slated to rise significantly.

I have the sense that some communities have created a more auspicious environment for events than
others and I'm curious how that arrangement works.

Selling a set of Zipp 404 Carbon Clincher Wheels. These are about 2 years

the alloy braking surface for MUCH better stopping power. Brake surface,
carbon, hubs etc. in perfect condition. New rim tape, tubes. Set of red
Vredestein Pro TriComp tires included, cassette/skewers are not. Check out
craigslist for a photo: http://bend.craigslist.org/bik/2608963479.html

These wheels are FAST and would make a fantastic cross or road racing set.

On home exchange websites, a hospitality exchange is when one family visits another and later, vice
versa.

We're looking for an OBRA version of a hospitality exchange. We live in Bend, and we'd welcome
Portland cyclists to use our guest room before or during a Central Oregon race. We'd like to do the
same for an occasional race in the Portland area.

There are two benefits to this: You meet some really great people, and you don't have to get up at 5
a.m. for a long drive!

Please let me know whether you might be interested in this kind of arrangement. Phone: 541-330-8888.

Hi
As a promoter and ex city councilor?I would suggest you go to your city council meeting and tell
them that your event(s) bring money into town. ?I would then try and work out a price for what you
need, outside the meeting. ?Every city is different. ?Some cities wave fee's for events, others
discount fee's and others sadly wouldn't cut you a break. ?Find out if any councilors ride and reach
out to them before the meeting. Also see if any key staff such as the head of public works, police
or what ever ride and reach out to them.
Take Care

governments for events with closed streets, police escorts, city works barricades, etc.?

I'm involved with several events (most recently the Mt Ashland Hill Climb Bike race), for which we
pay the city a fee for police escort and city works people for setting up barricades. These fees are
being renegotiated and slated to rise significantly.

I have the sense that some communities have created a more auspicious environment for events than
others and I'm curious how that arrangement works.

Trying to get ride of some bike clothes that I don't use. Hopefully somebody can put these to good
use:

1. Pearl Izumi 3D Race shorts, 6-panel, men/s small, new with tags $35

2. Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal bib tights, men's small, non-chamois version so you can wear your
shorts underneath. Windproof front, breathable in back. Perfect for chilly, wet Portland
fall/spring riding. Worn once. These seem to run a bit snug. Like new. $65

-_-datafeed-_-product-_-803405&mr:trackingCode=31B915C2-B849-E011-AFD7-001517384908&mr:referralID=NA

3. Descente Velom wind vest, men's medium, new with tags, $30

4. Garneau Wind Chill jacket, men's small. Lightweight windproof with breathable/stretch side and
back panels. Snug fit, doesn't flap in the wind. Worn a couple of times. Like new. $25.

5. Cannondale Chrono tights, men's small. Similar to the pearl's above with windproof front and
breathable back but non-bib version. No chamois. Men's small but seem to run a bit big. Worn
several times but clean with no rips, tears or stains. Perfect for chilly, wet Portland fall/spring
riding. $25.

I actually have two cranksets for sale, both chorus. one is the more modern Carbon ultra-torque in
ten speed. the other is an alloy 5 bolt/4 arm ISO (square taper). Both include the matching bottom
brackets. Asking $200/$100 respectively.

All right the Junior Cyclocross series is under way. We had 60 juniors take
on the Hood River double cross course. The first 50 received Hammer goodie
bags. See the attached results and let me know if you see any errors.
Congratulations to the following age winners:

Boys 17-18 Ian Masterbrook Hammer Velo
Boys 15-16 Naiqwan Pellman Word/RCB
Boys 13-14 Sam Rosenberg Hutch's Eugene
Boys 10-12 Brian Hart JR Camas Bike and Sport
Girls 17-18 Taylor Tyynismaa Mountain View Cycles
Girls 15-16 Susannah Hart Camas Bike & Sport
Girls 13-14 Sharon Hart Camas Bike & Sport
Girls 11-12 Haley Wilson Pacific Power

I wanted to note that Sam Rosenberg took out the overall as a 14 year old.
Nice Job Sam. Hot on his heels was Cameron Beard a 13 year old. Some nice
work.

Here is a video of the race action:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6eQGfcYWAa8

This Saturday the High School Series kicks off along with the second round
of the Junior series. Who will take the early lead on the High School Series
team competition? Who will start to establish their individual control in
the Junior series? It will be exciting to see.

There will once again be Hammer goodie bags for the first 50 to register. We
will be using numbers specific to the Crossaflixion for this event. Save
your Cross Crusade numbers that you will use for all the other Junior & High
School Cyclocross Series events (plus Cross Crusade & others).

I look forward to seeing you out there. I hope to make another video. Make
sure if you are on a high school team you KNOW WHAT THE NAME OF YOUR TEAM
IS!

Thanks to Gina Miller for hosting us at the Crossafixion, and the Bend
Endurance Academy for hosting a Cyclocross Camp. I highly recommend this
camp. My Junior team will be there. Camp info:
http://www.bendenduranceacademy.org/fall-cyclocross-camp/

See you all Saturday. The race is in Tumalo at 12 noon. Plenty of time to
drive over for just the day if you want to get back for Battle of Barlow on
Sunday.
